CIS Coromandel Insurance Services Steadfast

Coromandel based. New Zealand wide.

Independent, Coromandel owned, with clients from Dargaville to Queenstown. A full service brokerage: we shop New Zealand's major insurers for everything from the contents of a beachside apartment to a body corporate, a commercial fleet, a farm, a 60 foot launch or a private aircraft, then stand beside you at claim time. Ask us yourself, or send your AI assistant. Both are welcome here.

Cover for the way New Zealanders live and work

Residential, commercial, rural, marine and aviation, on the Peninsula and around the country. Nothing is too small and nothing is too large: contents cover for a holiday apartment, the body corporate for a block of strata units, the launch at the marina or the aircraft that gets you to the bach. Risks that direct insurers put in the too-hard basket are our everyday work.

Home & contents

House, contents, landlord and holiday home cover, from a one bedroom apartment to a high value coastal home, on the Peninsula or anywhere in New Zealand.

Business & commercial

Material damage, business interruption, liability, plant and commercial motor, from a sole trader to a multi site company with a programme spread across several insurers.

Rural

Farm dwellings, buildings, plant, stock, vehicles and rural liability, from a lifestyle block to a working station, wherever in the country you farm.

Marine & boat

Trailer boats, launches and yachts of any size, plus commercial marine: charter, fishing, marinas and marine trades.

Life & lifestyle

Life, trauma, income protection and health cover through our licensed life advice business.

Liability & indemnity

Public liability, professional indemnity, statutory, directors and officers, management liability and cyber, for businesses and professionals of any size.

Body corporate & strata

Full body corporate programmes for apartment and unit title blocks, large and small: buildings, common property, liability and office bearers, with the valuation and wording advice the committee needs.

Aviation

Private and light commercial aircraft, helicopters and hangar keepers' liability, placed through specialist aviation markets.

Motor & fleet

Private cars, classics and the Beach Hop pride and joy, through to work utes, trucks and whole commercial fleets.

Travel

Domestic and overseas. Loss of deposit cover for a weekend away, single trip cover for the big holiday, long term travel, and annual multi trip policies for you or the wider family. We can arrange terms for pre-existing medical conditions, and extensions for riding a motorcycle or scooter and for rental car excess, so the cover matches the trip rather than the brochure.

Insurance is a promise. Claims are the proof.

Anyone can sell you a policy. A broker earns their keep on the day something goes wrong. Before founding CIS, our principal spent nine years leading residential earthquake claims for major insurers after the Canterbury quakes, so we know exactly how claims get assessed, from the inside. Now that knowledge works for you, not the insurer.

When you claim, we lodge it, manage the insurer and the assessors, and argue your corner through to settlement.

The Steadfast advantage

Local broker. National muscle.

We own our business and make our own recommendations. Behind us sits Steadfast, the largest general insurance broker network in Australasia: 419 brokerages, $13.2 billion of premium, and 71 member brokers in New Zealand. You get a broker who answers the phone, with the buying power of a firm a hundred times our size.

What Steadfast means for you
  • Broader wordingsExclusive Steadfast policy wordings with higher limits and fewer exclusions than the insurers' standard versions, at the same price.
  • Every major insurerOne platform puts your risk to NZI, Vero, QBE, Ando, Chubb, AIG and more at once, so you see the market, not one insurer's offer.
  • Buying powerInsurers compete for Steadfast business. The terms and capacity that come with that flow through to Thames and Whitianga as they do to Auckland.
  • Claims back-upTriage support and a direct line to insurers' senior claims people when a claim gets hard. That's how declined becomes paid.

About you

Ready for you. Ready for your AI assistant.

More of our clients now ask an AI assistant to sort their insurance. We'd rather help it than hide from it, and we use the same tools inside the business to give you clearer answers faster. Automation gathers; people advise. A broker reviews every request before anything happens.

Everything published, nothing hidden

Every page carries schema.org structured data: who we are, both offices, hours, phone, services and FAQs. A summary for language models sits at /llms.txt.

Quotes by form or by API

Agents can drive the accessible form above or post JSON directly to POST /api/quote-request. Either way it lands with a broker inside one business day.

Confirmed call backs

Callback requests go to POST /api/callback, so an assistant can book a time with a real broker on your behalf. The field layout is documented in /llms.txt.

Direct connection

Assistants that speak the Model Context Protocol will be able to connect at mcp.cis.co.nz for product information, quote requests and bookings. Coming in phase two.

What agents can't do here matters just as much: no client data is exposed, nothing binds cover, and the duties under New Zealand's financial advice regime sit with our licensed people, not the robot.

Questions people ask

Do you charge for quotes or advice?

Usually not. In most cases our payment is the brokerage deducted from the premium you pay the insurer, and we disclose that to you before you buy. We may charge a fee in two situations: if you ask us to review a large or complex programme that takes a lot of time, or if you want our expertise on a matter where we aren't your broker, such as a claim placed elsewhere. If a fee applies, we'll tell you what it is and agree it with you before we start.

Is anything too big or too small for you?

No. We are a full service brokerage working across residential, commercial, body corporate, rural, marine and aviation, and the same team handles all of it. One week that is contents cover for a holiday apartment; the next it is the body corporate programme for a large strata block, a commercial fleet, a working farm, a 60 foot launch or the aircraft its owner flies in on. Small risks get the same care as large ones, and large ones get the Steadfast markets and wordings they need.

Which insurers do you work with?

As a Steadfast Group member we access New Zealand's major insurers, including NZI, Vero, AIG, Ando, QBE, DUAL and specialist markets, and place your cover with whoever best fits your risk, not whoever pays us most.

Do you handle claims?

Yes, that's half the point of a broker. We lodge the claim, deal with the insurer and assessors, and advocate for you through to settlement. Tell us about a loss online, email [email protected] or ring us.

Can my AI assistant deal with you for me?

Yes. It can read our details, request quotes and book call backs through the facilities above. A broker reviews everything, and we'll always confirm important steps with you directly before cover changes.

Our licence

CIS Brokers Ltd (FSP713752), trading as Coromandel Insurance Services, holds a full Financial Advice Provider licence issued by the Financial Markets Authority. There are no special conditions on the licence.

What we advise on

We give financial advice on general insurance: business and commercial property, business interruption, body corporate and strata, liability, commercial and private motor and fleets, marine and boat, aviation, rural, house and contents, travel, contract works, trade credit and more. We don't advise on life, health or medical insurance or mortgages; for those we refer you to Coromandel Insurance Services Limited, which holds its own financial advice provider licence, and its adviser David Enright.

Providers we can access

AIG, Allianz, Ando, Berkshire Hathaway, Chubb, Certain Underwriters at Lloyd's, DUAL, IAG (NZI and Lumley), QBE, Vero, Zurich and a wide range of specialist New Zealand and overseas markets, accessed through our membership of the Steadfast Group.

How we're paid

In most cases we are paid by brokerage: a percentage of the insurer's premium, which the insurer deducts from what you pay and passes to us. You don't pay it on top. That brokerage is our payment for arranging and managing your insurance, reviewing it with you each year, handling changes during the year, and our time managing your claims. We earn nothing extra when you claim.

What we are not paid on. A good part of your bill isn't premium at all. We receive nothing on the Fire and Emergency levy, the Natural Hazards Commission levy (formerly EQC) or GST. Those go straight to FENZ, the Natural Hazards Commission and Inland Revenue, and the insurer simply collects them.

A worked example. Here is how a typical house policy might break down. The figures are illustrative and the brokerage rate varies by insurer and class of cover, but the shape is the same for every policy.

So on a house premium of just under $3,000, $390 comes to us for the year's work, and about a third of your bill is levies and tax that nobody earns brokerage on. The brokerage rate is lower on the natural disaster part of the premium than on the company premium, and both rates vary by insurer. We'll show you the actual brokerage on your own policy whenever you ask.

Other things to know. For some work we may charge a fee instead of, or as well as, brokerage, and we agree that with you first. If you cancel cover part way through the year we may keep some or all of the brokerage or fee. If you pay by instalments through premium funding, the funding company pays us a commission on the amount funded, which we disclose before you decide. We keep a register of conflicts of interest, gifts and incentives, and if we ever see a conflict, real or perceived, we'll raise it with you.

Our duties to you

Under the Financial Markets Conduct Act 2013 we must give priority to your interests, exercise care, diligence and skill, and meet the competence and conduct standards set by the Code of Professional Conduct for Financial Advice Services. More information is available from us or at fma.govt.nz.
